Apply for your Resident Return visa

Simple. Fast. Professionally handled by Visapath.

If you are an Australian permanent resident and your travel facility has expired or is expiring soon, you need a Resident Return visa (RRV subclass 155) to re-enter Australia after travelling overseas. An RRV renews your travel rights while keeping your permanent residency fully intact, allowing you to leave and return to Australia without disruption.

Eligibility

You may qualify for a 5-year Resident Return visa if you:

* Your time in Australia does not need to be consecutive — the required 730 days can be accumulated over the five-year period preceding your application.

If you meet the eligibility requirements, you can use our online service to apply for your 5-year RRV.

Resident Return - FAQS

FAQS

01 Do I need a Resident Return visa if my travel facility has expired?

Yes. If your travel facility has expired or is about to expire, you must hold a valid Resident Return visa (RRV 155) to re-enter Australia as a permanent resident.

If you meet the 730-day residency requirement, you can receive a 5-year RRV with full travel rights.

If you do not meet the residency requirement, you may still be eligible for a shorter RRV if you can demonstrate substantial ties to Australia. As these cases are assessed on a case-by-case basis, we recommend discussing your situation in a personal consultation with one of our RRV experts. We will help you find the best strategy and support you to give your application the best chance of success.

Not with Visapath. We handle the application, lodgement and communication with the Department on your behalf.

It depends on your current visa status. We advise you individually based on your situation.
